Now he understood what it was to be a man: that it was to be weak as well as strong, to be foolish sometimes and wise sometimes, to know love as well as to kill. And he had learned that there were other paths for him, other gods who called in the deep places of the earth, in the lap of wavelets on the shore, in the breath of the wind. He had learned that there were other kinds of courage. He knew, with deep certainty, that the islands held a new path for him. He need only move forward and find it. Juliet Marillier
About This Quote

The quote above is from the book "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis. These days, it's not unusual for people to refer to each other as "my best friend". However, there was once a time when the term "best friend" had a more specific meaning. It was used to describe someone who you could trust without reservation.

For example,  "This is my best friend, Peter." The word "friend" has many different meanings depending on the context of the sentence. However, in this case, it meant that this person was one with whom you could share your most personal thoughts and secrets without feeling awkward or embarrassed. A friend would be completely willing to listen to your problems and offer advice or support at any time of the day or night. One day, two women were walking down a street when they passed a man that they had never seen before.

He looked at them and said: "Excuse me ladies, can you tell me where I can find the nearest public restroom?" The two women looked at each other and said: "Well...it's two blocks down that way." The man thanked them and continued walking down the street until he came across another woman who asked him if he needed help finding something. The same question was asked of him by yet another woman who then responded with: "Two blocks down that way." Finally, after passing by four different women, he came to a fifth woman who also responded with: "Two blocks down that way." He stopped her and asked what she meant by "two blocks down". The first thing she did was look up at him and ask if he was lost.

He replied yes but she still insisted on giving him directions. But after listening to her for only a few minutes he stopped her again and asked her what she meant by "two blocks". She replied that it referred to two consecutive blocks on his current route which made him angry because he had been walking for over an hour trying to find someone's house! He explained that he was trying to find a public restroom which seemed rather obvious considering his situation but no one had bothered to point out where it might be located.

His frustration reached new heights when he saw an old lady hurrying past him with shopping bags full of groceries in each hand. She turned around and said: "You'll find it on your left." The man thanked her for
